Hyderabad: Even as the youngest State, Telangana, moves up the chart of ease of doing business from 13th rank to first rank in just one year, industry experts and government opine that the TS-iPass policy has been one of the major contributing factor for this growth.

Elaborating on the reason why Telangana is on top of the ladder, IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan said, “One of the factors is the revolutionary TS-iPass that has been introduced by the government, although other external reforms and strong follow up has also helped. The TS-iPass has helped in strict adherence to timeline and getting inspection done in time-bound way which not only helps the government in getting new industries into the State but also helps the industries to finish all regulatory approvals in an efficient and hassle-free manner.”

Under the TS-iPass scheme any industry wishing to set up its business in the State will get all necessary licences in 15 days to set up a unit.

Informing about the ‘forward looking’ initiatives by the government, Nasscom Regional Head, Srikanth Srinivasan said, “One of the important initiatives by the government has been the single window clearance system which has helped in the expediting the process of setting up a business here in the State and has cut down the whole process of running around departments to a large extent. This system has put everything on one platter.”

In addition, Srinivasan also feels that mutual functioning of the ecosystem with good infrastructure, talent and policies is a wonderful combination. However, he cautions that the government should not become complacent and should ensure that there is continuity and better refinement of the policies so as to maintain the number one ranking in the years to come.

“The government has been taking constant feedback from the industry and other players so as to improve its policies and initiatives, which is the major reason for the success of ease of doing business in the State,” he added.

The Industries Minister K T Rama Rao Tweeted that the State will now focus on bringing down the cost of doing business and improving the quality of doing business to maintain the momentum.

Stressing on the positive attitude and approach of the State government, Suresh Challa, President, The Ind-US Entrepreneurs (TiE)- Hyderabad, said, “Top leadership has changed the mindset of bureaucrats and dealing with Government has become easier. Industry willing to make fresh investments is finding it easy, as the approval mechanism has improved and become fast track. And when States across India compete to be better than each other, it’s a good sign for entrepreneurs and the country.”
