Out of five brothers of a family from Peddapalli, four landed in police jobs.

Peddapalli: It was like a ‘package deal’ of happiness for a family in Godavarikhani when two brothers, twins at that, were selected for Sub-Inspector posts.

Gopathi Suresh and his brother Naresh secured SI jobs in the results announced by the State government on Saturday. Residents of NTR Nagar in Godavarikhani town, the twins landed constable jobs in 2018, but were not happy with the achievement and aimed for a higher post. The two resigned their posts and began preparation for civil services and got selected for SI posts.

Interestingly, out of five brothers in the family, four landed jobs in the Police Department, while the fifth works in Singareni coalmines. Of the four, three are SIs.

A native of Thiryani mandal, the father, Gopathi Shankaraiah, migrated to Godavarikhani to work in Singareni coalmines and settled here. The couple, Shankariah and Bhagyalaxmi, have five sons. The first son Ravinder, who was selected for a constable’s job a few years ago, prepared for Sub-Inspector post and cracked the SI examination in 2012. Ravinder is currently working as SB SI in Jagitial district.

The second brother, Venkatesh, resigned from the Army and landed up as a constable in 2011 and is attached to Godavarikhani Town-I police station.

Since he was suffering with cancer, Shankaraiah took voluntary retirement from Singareni, clearing the way for the appointment of his third son, Santosh, in his place. A few months later, Shankariah died.

Suresh and Naresh, the twins and the younger ones, have now made it to SI posts.

Speaking to Telangana Today, they expressed happiness over getting Sub-Inspector posts and said that their inspiration came from their elder brothers, and they worked hard to achieve their aim. Cracking civil services was their objective and they are happy to have achieved what they wanted to do, they said.
