Hyderabad: In one of the major drug seizures in recent times, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Hyderabad, seized 198 kg of marijuana, which was being transported to Hyderabad through Nehru Outer Ring Road late on Saturday night.

The psychotropic drug was packed in 99 packets of two kilos each and concealed in the boot space and the rear seat of the car.

The NCB officials said two persons from Narsipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, transporting the drug were arrested. They had procured it from Visakhapatnam for a consignment to be delivered in Hyderabad.

They were produced before the court which further remanded them in judicial custody.
This is the fifth big seizure by the NCB this year until now. A total of 3,846 kg of marijuana was seized since April. In all these cases, the contraband substance was sourced from the Andhra-Odisha border area.
