Two killed in road accident near Jangaon

The deceased have been identified as Y Karunakar (26) and his friend Irri Ravi Kiran Reddy (23) of Mandala gudem village of Raghunathpalli mandal in the district, and they were on their way to Cherial to attend a function.

Jangaon: Two youngsters were killed when the motorcycle on which they were travelling was hit by a lorry that was coming in the opposite direction at Tumma Bala school (Medikunta) in Bachhannapet on Sunday. The deceased have been identified as Y Karunakar (26) and his friend Irri Ravi Kiran Reddy (23) of Mandala gudem village of Raghunathpalli mandal in the district, and they were on their way to Cherial to attend a function.

It is said that the lorry had hit the bike in the opposite direction when the driver was trying to overtake a vehicle killing them on the spot. Bodies have been shifted to Jangaon area government hospital, and police have reportedly taken the lorry driver into custody.

Karunkar is survived by wife and a nine-month old son, while Kiran Reddy is unmarried. Karunkar was working as a reporter with a local TV channel at Jangaon and Kiran Reddy was working as a part time class fourth employee with the government registration office in Jangaon. Bachannapet police have registered a case and are investigating it.
