Unable to get liquor, man attempts suicide in Kothagudem

According to police, Marrivada Rambabu, an alcoholic, slit his throat and stabbed himself in his stomach with a knife

Kothagudem: A 40-year-old carpenter allegedly attempted suicide by slitting his throat and stabbing himself due to the withdrawal symptoms of alcoholism, at Model Colony at Aswaraopet mandal headquarters in the district in Sunday.

According to police, Marrivada Rambabu, an alcoholic, slit his throat and stabbed himself in his stomach with a knife. He recently returned from Hyderabad. Unable to get liquor due to the lockdown, he had been showing aggressive behaviour for the past few days and was behaving like an insane since Saturday evening.

The family members who noticed Rambabu in a pool of blood shifted him to government hospital at Aswaraopet from where he was shifted to District General Hospital in Khammam for better treatment. Aswaraopet police registered a case and investigating it.
