UoH sees 32% increase in number of applications

For the academic year 2017-18, the University of Hyderabad has received a record number of applications, 58,034 to be precise, for various courses.

Hyderabad: The University of Hyderabad seems to be the favourite among students for pursuing higher studies. For the academic year 2017-18, the university has received a record number of applications, 58,034 to be precise, for various courses. This is 32 per cent more than last year.

The university had received about 44,000 applications in 2016. The highest number of applications were received from Telangana i.e., 19,009, followed by 6,515 from Kerala and 5,918 from Andhra Pradesh. Of the total number of applications, those from women constitute 37 per cent, 35.09 per cent are from OBC category, 15.83 per cent are from SC and 9.60 per cent from ST candidates.

The university will hold the entrance examination at 37 centres across the country from June 1 to 5.

“We feel happy that we have become the choice destination for more aspirants from across the country. It adds responsibility as a leading academic institution of the country. The university will greatly benefit from this situation and we expect the quality of our input to improve,” said Prof Appa Rao Podile, Vice-Chancellor, UoH.
