Use cage culture to enhance income of fishermen community: Harish Rao

Siddipet: Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Thursday instructed the fisheries department officials to introduce cage culture in minor irrigation lakes to enhance the income of the fishermen community in Siddipet district.

In a review meeting with fisheries department officials at SUDA (Siddipet Urban Development Authority) office here, the Minister instructed them to introduce cage culture in Gurralagondi, Ragahavapur, Narayanraopet, Rajagopalpet Ensanpally and other lakes from this year.

Rao asked M Venkaiah, District Fisheries Officer, to prepare estimates for introducing cage culture. He also directed the officials to take the fishermen community and sarpanches of the villages to Khammam Paleru reservoir, where fishermen were thriving on account of cage culture.

Earlier, Harish Rao inspected the progress of waste segregation shed, Vaikuntha Dhama and Rythu Vedika. The Minister went around the town in 6th ward and interacted with the women. He inaugurated the Unani Hospital building constructed at a cost of Rs 15 lakhs. He also laid the foundation stone for the construction of a compound wall around the community hall in 26th ward of Siddipet Municipality.
