Uttam Kumar accepts KTR’s challenge

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President N Uttam Kumar Reddy, responding to IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao challenge, announced that he and his MLA wife Padmavathi Reddy would retire from politics if the Congress did not come to power in the next elections, but with the rider that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao must also announce that he, along with Rama Rao, Nizamabad MP K Kavitha and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao will retire from politics if TRS loses the elections.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday, Reddy alleged that no section of the society benefitted from the TRS rule in the past four years. Reacting to Rama Rao’s observations on the Nehru-Gandhi family, he said Nehru-Gandhi family was among the richest in the country and had they donated several properties for public cause. “Jawaharlal Nehru played a lead role in the country’s independence and shaped the nation after 1947 as country’s first Prime Minister. Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi have laid down their lives for the country. Congress president Rahul Gandhi is continuing the legacy and has been serving as member of Lok Sabha for a third term,” he said.

Congress senior leaders including Dr. Mallu Ravi, Akula Lalitha, Rammohan Reddy, Santosh Reddy, Vamshichand Reddy and Sravan Dasoju were also present.
