‘Vah Chef’ Sanjay Thumma mentors Parul University students

Furthering its culture of practical learning, Parul University’s Faculty of Hospitality Management and Catering Technology, initiated its very first edition of the annual festival “Curate 2019”.

Vadodra/Hyderabad: Stepping out of his regular kitchen, Telangana-based Chef Sanjay Thumma took up the PU Talks platform, to sprinkle his inspiring words on the students and faculties, during yet another edition of Parul University’s PUTalks event on Thursday.

The platform is popularly known for hosting some of India’s most renowned personalities from Bollywood, to the Indian Armed Forces, and this culinary edition, was of no exception to the standard of enlightenment, every speaker has shared.

“There is no future in any job or in any profession, the future lies in the person who holds the job, it is you who will be successful, not because you are in engineering or you are in medicine, or wherever you are, it is because of the qualities that you will cultivate today which will make you successful in the coming years,” were the opening words of the Vah Chef while serving a delicate dish of knowledge, filled with what he termed “the ingredients of success”.

Furthering its culture of practical learning, Parul University’s Faculty of Hospitality Management and Catering Technology, initiated its very first edition of the annual festival “Curate 2019”. The festival, commencing from December 19 to 21, was successful in acting as a platform for the hospitality management students, to develop their hands on practical skill sets. Complementing this academic full course meal, the presence of Chef Sanjay, was the festival’s highlight, which left the budding chefs and aspiring hospitality managers of Parul University brimming with inspiration.

During the festival, students were given a chance to compete in a series of strategic cooking and catering challenges, evoking their inner creativity while sharpening their outer practical abilities. These competitions included, the lost chef, the secret garden, spectrum, thrust burst and chef’s pedia, all comprising of challenges ranging from crafting unique dishes to mixing the most refreshing beverages. In addition, the students also got the opportunity of being mentored by the popular Chef while they were preparing their dishes. “Having such a renowned Chef in our Parul University kitchen is a really inspiring moment for me. Being at the starting point of my academic career, I believe with such expert guidance here in Parul University my future in hospitality truly feels very secure” said Elvis Boir a student of hospitality management.

During his guest lecture, the students also got the opportunity to interact with Sanjay, and in response to a question regarding the changing scope of the food industry, he responded, saying “India has many cuisines, and in today’s time a lot of technology is being applied. Right now the human involvement is being eliminated and food is becoming cheaper, but one should always eat healthy”. “As a University, our goal is to ensure that our students have the real life insights from real personalities who have not only excelled in their careers but have excelled in life. I truly believe that the presence of Chef Sanjay Thumma at Parul University will go a long way in inspiring the hospitality management and catering technology students to go the extra mile,” said the PU President, Dr Devanshu Patel.
