Hyderabad: V Varun defeated Advay Koganti in the first round of the Kasani Krishna Mudiraj Memorial All India Open FIDE Rating Chess Tournament at Global Indian International School, Uppal on Wednesday.

In another match, Bharat Kumar Reddy downed Viswa Alakanti. The event has participation of over 200 players including 110 FIDE-rated players from across the country.
