Varun Tej’s Tholiprema is running successfully with praise pouring in from not only the audience but also the critics. And, Venky Atluri who made his directorial debut with the film, is clearly elated with the response.

Comparing his directorial debut with Pawan Kalyan’s Tholiprema, he says, “As I promised at the pre-release function, hope I succeeded in securing the image of the title. The title poster that we have unveiled was an honest approach. It contains no heroic elevation. I think the fans also found purity in it.”

“When it comes to the movie’s success, I expected appreciations but the way the audiences have responded is a big surprise for me. The way audience have received the movie exceeded my expectations,” he says at an interaction with media.

Revealing the reasons behind the selection of Raashi Khanna as the female lead, the actor-turned-director says, “Choosing Raashi as the female lead was based on suggestions that came from my producer and Varun Tej. Initially, I thought of taking a new comer for Varsha’s character. But, when the suggestion of taking an established and familiar heroine came out, Raashi remained the first option in every aspect and in the test-look, she looked perfect for the role. And she played the character with utmost conviction.”

Thaman’s music too has been receiving compliments. “The excitement Thaman and I share for the story is mutual. Almost every tune was finalised in one sitting and it was also a big surprise for me. But, what mesmerised me a lot was his rerecording. His belief in the story was just impeccable and the score also came out lovely.”

The young director narrated the story to Varun long back before Loafer and Fidaa. “Though I felt little nervous about the long wait, we invested our free time to make the story better in mnay ways. In fact, when I started writing for Tholiprema, Varun’s Mukunda didn’t get release yet. After the release of Kanche, I approached him with confidence,” he recollects. IT Minister KT Rama Rao took to Twitter to convey his compliments to the team of Tholiprema. Expressing his happiness on it, Venky says, “Politicians are usually busy with their hectic work schedules and it is a happy sign that they look at the film for relaxation. Wishing us on public platform is a great thing. Appreciating our movie is, really very sweet of him.”

Venky Atluri’s next project is also going to be for Tholiprema’s producer BVSN Prasad.
