Nalgonda: CPI (M) leader and former Nakrekal MLA Nandyala Srinivas Reddy passed away at 3.30 am on Wednesday at his residence at Muthyalammagudem of Kattangur mandal in the district. He was 101. He was suffering from age-related ailments for the last few months.
Srinivas Reddy actively participated in Telangana Agrarian Armed Struggle and went to jail. He distributed his 900 acres land to the poor people in the village. He was elected as Member of Legislative Assembly from Nakrekal Constituency in 1962.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao expressed deep condolences on the demise of Srinivas Reddy. He recalled the contribution of the CPI (M) leader to the State during his long political career and setting high standards in the political arena. He conveyed his condolences to the family.
Education Minister G Jagadish Reddy also lauded the services of Srinivas Reddy as a political leader and revolutionary. He pointed out that Srinivas Reddy joined the Telangana Armed Struggle and fought for the cause as a Dalam Commander against the Nizam’s rule and feudal lords of Telangana region.
Srinivas Reddy gave away his hereditary properties for the welfare of farmers, he said. CPI (M) polit bureau member BV Raghavulu, CPI(M) State Secretariat committee member Julakanti Ranga Reddy and district secretary Mudireddy Sudhakar Reddy were among those who paid homage to the late leader.
