Hyderabad: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Wednesday demanded withdrawal of orders externing Swami Paripoornananda from city for six months for allegedly making provocative speeches targeting other communities and their leaders.
VHP activists and the Swami’s supporters staged protests at different places in the State wearing black badges and flags against the police action. “Externing the swami is wrong. We demand immediate withdrawal of the externment order,” VHP State president M Rama Raju said while addressing a press conference here.
He said externment orders are usually issued against anti-social elements. How can the police compare Swami, a seer with film critic Kathi Mahesh, he questioned.
“Keeping in view the series of attacks on Hindus, the Swami wanted to take out a procession for which permission was initially granted but suddenly it was cancelled on the grounds that some anti-social elements were likely to cause law and order problem,” Raju said.
VHP State spokesperson R Shashidhar said protests were organised at all mandal headquarters in districts and core areas in the city. He found fault with the police for externing Swami like Mahesh and hurriedly shifting him out of the State.
“We will continue our protest till the police withdraw the orders issued against the swami,” he added.
