Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s decision to make Telugu a mandatory subject in all government and private schools from next academic year has come in for praise from Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu.
I welcome the decision of Telangana Government to make Telugu a compulsory subject from first to 12th standards.

In a tweet, the Vice President appreciated the Chief Minister’s decision and asked other States to follow suit and encourage their respective languages. He also congratulated Chandrashekhar Rao for giving the much needed boost to Telugu language.
The Chief Minister had on Tuesday announced the decision during a review meeting on World Telugu conference arrangements.
