Vinod Kumar urges Centre for more evacuation flights from Doha

Hyderabad: Responding to the request of the members of Telangana Jagruthi, Telangana Praja Samthi and Telangana Gulf Samithi of Qatar to help bring back people from the State, State Planning Board Vice Chairman B Vinod Kumar wrote a letter to union External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on Friday seeking increase in the number of flights between Doha and Hyderabad.

Vinod Kumar informed the union minister that since the start of the “Vande Bharat” mission from Doha to Hyderabad only one flight took off with just 183 people. Telangana being the second largest community with a presence of over 70,000 persons, about 3500 distressed have registered for immediate repatriation citing reasons mainly severe ailment, pregnancy, death of immediate family members, expiry of short term visa and workers who have lost their job due to lockdown.

The Planning board vice chairman has assured the external affairs minister that the passengers will follow the quarantine as per the Central and State government regulations and only those who have registered with the Indian embassy for safe evacuation can be considered for repatriation.

Nandini Abbagoni, President Telangana Jagruthi Qatar, Tirupathi Chennaveni President Telangana Praja Samithi Qatar and Prem Kumar Boddu , General Secretary Telangana Gulf Samithi wrote the letter to Vinod Kumar seeking his help.
