Visakha Utsav to kick off on Jan 28

The inaugural function would be held on January 28 evening, after the summit, to enable the delegates witness the rich culture and traditions.

Visakhapatnam: The much awaited Visakha Utsav will be held from January 28 to 30 in the city. Announcing this after a meeting with the district officials at the Collectorate on Wednesday, HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said about 1,500 delegates from 28 countries, attending the CII Partnership Summit would have an opportunity to witness the inaugural function of the festival, along with the Chief Minister and other Cabinet colleagues.

The inaugural function would be held on January 28 evening, after the summit, to enable the delegates witness the rich culture and traditions besides considering the tourism potential of the district, he said.

The utsav would continue conducting the programmes that were held successfully in the previous years, in addition to introducing some new attractions. The programmes are being held on the beach road, stretching from RK Beach to VUDA Park. The participation of Vizagites would be ensured by organising competitions.

Local artistes would be provided opportunities during the festivities and a carnival atmosphere would be created for fun and frolic.

Parliament members K Haribabu and Avanti Srinivasa Rao, Zilla Parishad chairperson Lalam Bhavani, MLAs Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy and Palla Srinivasarao, District Collector Pravin Kumar, City Commissioner of Police T Yoganand, GVMC Commissioner Harinarayanan and others attended.
