Former Union Minister Vyricherla Kishore Chandra Deo & his daughter Srutidevi contests against each other in Araku constituency under TDP & Congress tickets respectively

Visakhapatnam: While former Union Minister Vyricherla Kishore Chandra Deo has quit the Congress and joined the Telugu Desam Party which is now fielding him from Araku Parliamentary constituency reserved for ST, his daughter Srutidevi has decided to fight against him on Congress ticket.

The Congress gave the ticket to Srutidevi, a social worker, in a surprise move and the father and daughter will be involved in a triangular fight along with YSRCP nominee Goddeti Madhavi.

Kishore Chyandra Deo who won many times from the Visakhapatnam agency region, also lost on a few occasions. In the 2014 general elections he, as a Congress candidate, lost to Kothapalli Geeta of YSRCP..

This is not the only instance where family members are rival political parties.

Gavireddi Ramanaidu, former MLA from Madugula who lost in the 2014 polls, is again contesting on TDP ticket while his elder sister and film actor Ramyasri has joined the YSRCP and his younger brother Sanyasinayudu is in Jana Sena Party.

There are also a father and daughter contesting in the neighbouring Vizianagaram district. TDP strongman and former Union Minister P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju and his daughter Aditi are in fray–for the Vizianagaram Lok Sabha and Assembly seats respectively on behalf of the TDP and they also filed their nominations on Wednesday.
