Warangal Urban: Sulakshya Seva Samithi, a voluntary organisation, as a part of its objectives of ‘Empowering youth’ and ‘Promoting Good Governance’ has chalked out a plan to organise voter awareness campaign ‘Jaago Voter Jaago’.
Posters and pamphlets for the programme were launched by Warangal Urban Collector Prashanth Jeevan Patil at his office on Thursday.
Patil said the voting percentage in the urban areas was low and urged the Samithi members to target urban areas by frequently visiting public places such as parks, colleges and also by conducting door-to-door campaign.
“My compliment to Sulakshya Seva Samithi, which has been serving the society in different forms. I’m sure that the Samithi will achieve great success in the coming days,” he added.
Founder president of Sulakshya Seva Samithi Santhosh Manduva said: “Vote is an important weapon of the citizen and its role in democracy is paramount. A stable government can be formed only when citizens turn out in large numbers to cast their votes.”
“We also request citizens not to entertain opportunistic, corrupt, communal, dynastic, vote bank and appeasement politics. We will also educate citizens about the recently launched C-VIGIL app as well as the VVPAT machine,” he added.
Sulakshya Seva Samithi will organise an awareness session on November 11 at Public Gardens Hanamkonda at 6.30 am where people from different walks of life will be invited to express their opinion and stress on the importance of voting.
“We request youth and like minded people who are not affiliated to any political party to take part in the programme,” Manduva said. Trainee IPS officer Rohith Biruduraju was present at the the programme.
