Wanaparthy: The land oustees of Shankara Samudram built by Rani Shankaramma, where the State government intends to build Kanayapally reservoir, have demanded the District Administration Rs 7.5 lakh per acre, in addition to 2BHK houses for them and to bring 35 more families which were earlier overlooked during the socio-economic survey under the rehabilitation and settlement plan of the State government.
Addressing the land oustees at the Mandal Parishad office in Kothakota mandal headquarters on Wednesday, District Collector Sweta Mohanty assured land oustees that proposals for rehabilitation and resettlement to the affected, including plots for those who reached 18 years of age would all be given the benefits for losing their lands and homes.
She requested the villagers to allow the five-day survey being conducted by the revenue department which starts from Monday to avoid trouble.
In addition to the new 95 beneficiaries already identified during the socio-economic survey in the past, she also agreed to bring in the missed 35 beneficiaries to the fold of the R&R package.
She has also sought a written assurance from the villagers that they were willing to give their lands for constructìon of the reservoir, so that the Cabinet approval could be sought and the remaining work for completion of the project could be done soon.
