Wanaparthy: Wanaparthy District Lorry Association and Ayyappa Sarva Samithi have contributed towards installation of 12 CCTV cameras under two gram panchayats near Wanaparthy town, which were inaugurated by Wanaparthy DSP Srujana on Sunday.
5 CCTV cameras were installed near Eco Park on Pebbair road in Marrikunta village and 7 were installed near Ayyappa Swamy temple in Rajanagaram.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, DSP Srujana said that CCTV footage not only helps in identifying culprits, but also helps during investigation and serves as admissible evidence in the court of law for conviction. She said that thieves within the household could also be identified through the footage.
Observing that one CCTV camera was equal to 100 policemen, she said that the ultimate goal of the Police Department was to achieve a crime-free Wanaparthy.
She appreciated the two organisations for generously coming forward to install CCTVs as part of ‘Nenu Saitham’ initiative and encouraged others to come forward as well, as safety and security was not only the responsibility of police, but also of the general public.
Wanaparthy Rural SI Raghavender Reddy, Wanaparthy Lorry Association president Shankar Prasad, Ayyappa Sarva Samithi president Marambaleeshwaraiah and others were present at the event.
