Warangal Urban: Warangal would soon figure in the list of modern cities in the country, with the stage set for putting on fast track the development of the second biggest city in the State, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari and Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao said on Wednesday. the government would be notifying on March 4 the new master plan formulated for the development of Warangal city.
A decision to this effect was taken at a review meeting held by the two Ministers in the Secretariat. The Ministers asked the officials concerned to make arrangements for the implementation of the master plan with all seriousness.
The Deputy CM said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had been asking for stepping up the pace in the implementation of development works in Warangal city, but due to some unavoidable reasons no significant progress could be achieved so far.
He said the schedule for the formation of Warangal Outer Ring Road(ORR) should be finalised soon, foundation stone should be laid for the Warangal ORR works on June 2 marking the State formation day celebrations.
The Municipal Administration Minister said tenders should be called for ORR as early as possible and steps should be taken to ensure its completion by 2018. The 72-km long ORR should have resting facilities for every 20 km distance and sufficient land should be provided at interchange spots. The preparation of master plan and implementation of ORR would be monitored by holding monthly meetings at Warangal. Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation chairmen N Narendar, KUDA chairman Yadava Reddy, MLAs Vinaya Bhaskar, A Ramesh and other officials were persent at the meeting.
