Hyderabad: Investigators probing the rape and murder of a 19-year-old girl on her birthday in Warangal district last month got crucial evidence with Forensic officials confirming that the semen collected from the victim’s body matched with that of the suspect.

The Telangana Forensic Science Laboratory (TSFSL) will submit a report soon to the investigators. The evidence will be submitted in the court in Warangal district to ensure stern punishment to Sai Goud. The investigators will enclose the FSL report along with the charge-sheet, which will be filed shortly in the court. The medical examination conducted by the forensic doctors on the girl’s body also revealed that she suffered serious internal injuries after Goud hit her on the head while raping her.

On November 27, the girl went to a temple at Deendayal Nagar in Hanamkonda to celebrate her birthday, and later met Goud nearby. She did not return home and her phone was switched off. As her family searched for her, a passerby noticed a body at Sriram Colony on Hunter Road and alerted the police. The family rushed to the spot and identified the girl. With the help of CCTV footage, the police arrested Goud.

Meanwhile, the Cyberabad police intensified efforts to collect details along with samples from charred bodies found elsewhere in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka to carry out an analysis to confirm if the four suspects arrested in the Disha rape-murder case were involved in any of those offences. “We are still in the process of collecting more details about the cases related to charred bodies,” an official said.
