Warangal Urban:  A woman allegedly tried to implicate a doctor in a false case in Warangal on Wednesday.  The Warangal Branch of Indian Medical Association (IMA) has condemned the incident stating that the woman and her relatives had tried to damage the reputation of the doctor by lodging a false case.

Dr  P Sudhir Kumar, an orthopedic surgeon at the Balaji Hospital, Matwada,  in Warangal, was examining Revaju Sandhya (25), who complained about lower back pain. Sandhya suddenly left the room leaving the doctor in shock. Meanwhile, a person who accompanied her picked up an argument with the doctor and accused him of misbehaving with her. Two others including the woman’s husband Naresh entered the room and tried to create a ruckus by shouting at and abusing the doctor. They also allegedly tried to take away the mobile phone of the doctor.

Later, she approached the Matwada police station alleging that the doctor had inappropriately touched her. Following this, an FIR was lodged against the doctor under section 354 (Assault or criminal force against woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).  However, Dr Sudhir Kumar also went to police station and lodged a complaint with them stating that he was attacked by a group of people at his hospital. He also stated that he had not misbehaved with the woman in any manner and asked the police to verify the CCTV footage at his hospital.

Following this, the police also filed an FIR under sections 385 (Putting person in fear of injury in order to commit extortion), 448 (Punishment for house-trespass), 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation), as well as under the Andhra Pradesh Medical Protection Act.

When contacted, Matwada Inpsector L Jeevan Reddy said that they had booked two FIRs and are investigating the cases. “We have also examined the CCTV footage obtained from the hospital where we have not found any objectionable behaviour on the part of the doctor. However, we are still probing the case. If the woman’s complaint is proved false, we will arrest the woman and others,” he added.
