Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) is expediting road restoration works and plans are being made to complete the works in a fortnight in peripheral areas of Hyderabad. Under HUDCO project, the Water Board had taken up pipeline laying works covering 1,300 kms out of which road restoration works were completed covering 1, 030 kms, said HMWS&SB, Managing Director, M Dana Kishore.
During a review meeting here on Monday, the Managing Director said that everyday close to ten kms of roads in the peripheral regions are being restored by the department. As a precautionary measure, the Water Board is arranging 29 more emergency vehicles in addition to the 12 vehicles. These vehicles will be deployed to take up repair works on stretches, in case of any damages during rains.To ensure quality in the works, officials from GHMC and HMWSSB will be jointly inspecting the works on Tuesday. He directed the Chief General Managers to regularly coordinate with respective wing officials to complete the road restoration works early.
Earlier, the Water Board launched a four-day workshop for workers on the standard operating procedures to be followed during manhole cleaning and sewerage overflow. Addressing on the occasion, Dana Kishore instructed the workers to use safety equipment and gears while taking up different works. This will help in saving the workers from developing any health issues. Later, he also inaugurated a photo exhibition on the history of HMWS&SB organised in the head office.
