Visakhapatnam: ‘Waterman of India’ Rajendra Singh from Rajastan will tour north Andhra Pradesh from June 29 to July 1.
Announcing this here on Tuesday, national convener of Jalbiradari Bolisetti Satyanarayana said Dr. Rajendra Singh would tour the region to share the knowledge for revival of water resources and improving the ground water table.
“He will tour north Andhra for three days and create awareness among the public and local officials,” he said. Former Energy Secretary EAS Sarma said that the reservoirs of Meghadrigedda, Mudasarlova, Yeleru, Thatipudi, Raiwada and Meghadrigedda had completely gone dry resulting in acute water shortage in the city and district. They had gone dry not because of scant rainfall but only the people had to be blamed, he stated. He appealed to the general public, particularly the GVMC and government officials to listen to Dr. Rajendra Singh’s advice for improving ground water table in the region.
