Hyderabad: We-Hub incubated startup Exotic Blooming Teas, which has set up its first consumer-oriented experience centre in Hyderabad, is looking to expand its Tea Studios. It is looking at setting up three more studios in Hyderabad and Bengaluru by end of 2018. The startup, that sells 50 varieties of tea blends both cold and hot, has been in business for the last one-and-a-half-year.

Initially, it started off by selling its tea blends in major cafes in cities like Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Vijaywada and has its products being sold in almost 28 cafes and all its branches. “This will be our first venture into the business to consumer space and rather than being just a space for enjoying a hot cup of tea, the studio will also educate tea drinkers on varieties and manufacturing of different teas,” said Neelima Chowdary, managing director, Exotic Blooming Teas.

The startup offers teas in the price range of Rs 200-Rs 800 for 25 grams which can make up to 12 cups of tea. And according to Chowdary, the USP of the startup is that it does not sell its drink in tea bags but as leaves. This gives the consumer a better taste of the tea when compared to other tea offerings by other companies.

Most of the tea leaves are sourced from Darjeeling and the base of the tea is mostly green and black tea. The different varieties of blends are sourced from China, Japan and few other countries. “We travelled to many countries and got to taste different kinds of teas and that is how the idea of starting a company related to teas came into being,” Chowdary said, who has been a national-level badminton player.

With an investment of Rs 1 crore, the startup is looking to scale up its presence in the B2C segment and We-Hub is helping them in expanding its operations.
