The water body presents a dirty picture with
unhindered growth of hyacinth
Ameenpur lake
was once known
for its
clean water,
pristine environs and often referred to as
a bird’s paradise
It is now languishing in
apathy
Careless dumping
of
plastic
is adding
to pollution
Fishing activity
goes on unabated
This is affecting the lake’s
biodiversity
A man sits with
plastic net
to be
sold for fishing
The lake was once known for
migratory birds
flocking in huge numbers during the winter season
Today there are
hardly any
birds
Plastic covers,
water bottles
and hyacinth all round
are a big put-off
A few prefer to
‘work out’
at a cleaner part of the lake
