From his last few films, Sharwanand has been choosing scripts which focus more on the comedy but says that it’s tough to perform such roles . The actor who made his debut in Telugu film industry with Yuvasena has completed 13 years with Mahanubhavudu and is on cloud nine, celebrating the success. During his interaction with media, the actor shares a lot more about the film.
Is it the script or the director you chose to work for?
It is always the script that attracts me. I don’t believe in looking at the number of hits and flops the director has. I was looking for different scripts and that was when I was approached by Maruthi. After the narration of the script, I said yes as I liked it. I was confident about the role since day 1 because I had already watched Maruthi’s films.
Was playing an OCD person challenging?
Not actually. We see and meet many people who are obsessed with something or the other. Initially, I was confused with the concept of OCD, but after a few scenes I understood what it was actually about. I haven’t felt it was difficult as it created fun and excitement within me. In a few scenes, Maruthi helped me improvising it and even by depicting the character.
Are you obsessed of anything? How different are you from the character in the film?
I am completely different to that character of Anand and I am not obsessed of anything too. I don’t believe that anybody would even like coming near me if I was so. I maintain basic
hygiene. I have few friends who are obsessed with something or the other and I feel different when I look at them. I was pretty sure that many would connect themselves with the character of Anand and yes, it happened too.
How is the journey with the banner which gave you three back to back hits?
I am obliged to them. Run Raja Run, Express Raja and now Mahanubhavudu, more than a banner, they are good friends to me for a long time. With UV Creations, my graph of films has been increasing. They believed in me and I believed in them. I am looking forward to do more films with them in future if I get a chance.
Isn’t it you who was first approached to play Arjun Reddy? What made you reject it?
Yes. The script of Arjun Reddy first came to me. I did not rejected the role, yet I was apprehensive about Sandeep Reddy being the producer as well as the director. One person, taking care of direction as well as production is not a small thing. So I did not want him to take the pressure. I sent the script to many producers but no one was ready to produce it as they thought it would be a risk. And now, all of them regret for doing it. I am absolutely happy for Vijay and I feel that the role was meant for him. In fact I called him and congratulated him after the release. He is someone all of us are proud of and I think Telugu film industry has got another well performing actor
