Whiff of Telangana culture in Mexico

The event saw a group of Mexicans preparing Bathukammas and dancing to traditional songs.

Hyderabad: Under a cultural exchange programme, a special event was organised depicting the culture of Telangana through a photo exhibition and Bathukamma – the floral festival of the State — at San Louis, Mexico. The event saw a group of Mexicans preparing Bathukammas and dancing to traditional songs.

Photographs and videos of Bonalu and Bathukamma too were arranged at the event organised by Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA) in association with Department of Culture, Government of Mexico. Nearly 30 Mexicans learned how to prepare Bathukamma.

TITA global president Sundeep Kumar Maktala said the association was working to spread the culture of Telangana globally, besides other initiatives. TITA coordinator Ramesh said Mexicans learned about Bathukamma and Bonalu.

The photo exhibition on Telangana’s culture, to be held on April 10 at San Louis, Mexico, will exhibit the biography of Mahatma Gandhi. Mexico Cultural Secretary Armando Herrera, San Louis, Museum Director Xavier’s Acosta, and others participated in the programme.
