Visakhapatnam: The Hyderabad-bound IndiGo flight on Sunday night here was delayed by nearly three hours due to an encounter with a wild boar which strayed onto the runway in the darkness.

The boar came bang in front of the aircraft which was all set to take off. There was no way the pilot could halt the plane and so he took off. However, he noticed that the wheels failed to withdraw. To avoid risk, he burnt all fuel by hovering in the skies for over an hour and then landed safety. Later, the flesh of the boar stuck in the wheel was removed and the wheels cleaned to facilitate the departure which came around 1 p.m. much to the relief of over 100 passengers, it is said.
