Hyderabad: BJP State president K Laxman claimed that his party was emerging as a political alternative to the ruling TRS and Telangana would be the next State in South India after Karnataka to have a BJP-led government. He claimed that several leaders from TRS and Congress were ready to join BJP, which will continue its fight against the government policies in public forums.
The State BJP leaders will present a report to the party national president Amit Shah at a meeting of BJP State presidents in New Delhi on Thursday and Friday. Speaking to media-persons at the BJP office here on Wednesday, Laxman said the Telangana unit of BJP would fight against the State government over “its failure to implement various promises as well as government policies against the wishes of the people”. “TDP vanished from the State and Congress is a sinking ship. BJP is the only alternative emerging to gain power in the State in 2023,” he said.
Laxman opposed the merger of Congress Legislative Party with TRS Legislative Party, alleging that the TRS government was taking advantage of loopholes in the Constitution to encourage such activities. He also opposed the proposal of AIMIM seeking the status of main Opposition, stating that an alliance partner of the ruling party cannot be the main Opposition in a democratic country.
The BJP State president also demanded action against educational institutions collecting exorbitant fee for primary schoolchildren against the established norms. He demanded that the government implement the common school system to end the corporate schools’ domination on the State education system.
