Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday said the Congress party, if voted to power in the next elections, would turn Pragathi Bhavan, the official residence of the Chief Minister, into a hospital.
Addressing a meeting in Gandhi Bhavan here, the Congress leader alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had cheated all sections of society and neglected all districts. “KCR, along with his family members, lived a lavish lifestyle after coming to power and completely neglected the welfare of farmers, youth, students, Dalits, Girijans, BCs, minorities and women.
Pragathi Bhavan is symbol of dictatorial and aristocratic rule of KCR family,” he said, adding that the Congress would convert it into a public hospital to “announce the return of people’s rule and restoration of democracy in Telangana State”.
Uttam Kumar Reddy also gave a brief picture of major promises being made in the Congress manifesto which include Rs. 1 lakh grant to each of 6 lakh women SHGs, free ration and power up to 200 units for poor Dalit and Girijan families, supply of 7 kg fine rice per individual for Re 1 per kg, 1 lakh jobs in public and 1 lakh jobs through self-employment schemes, recruitment of 20,000 teachers through mega DSC, unemployment allowance of Rs. 3,000 per month to jobless youth, doubling of Aasra pension amount, reduction in age limit to 58 years for old age pension, among others.
