Hyderabad: A 50-year-old woman and her one-year-old granddaughter died after the Amaravati Express hit them at the Bolarum railway station on Wednesday morning. Hailing from Nanded, Maharashtra, the elderly woman, G Sita Bai and her granddaughter Pankaja along with eight other relatives came to the Bolarum railway station on the Krishna Express and alighted from the train.
They had come to the city to work as labourers in Kompally. While the others crossed the tracks, Sita, who was holding the girl, too was crossing the tracks but did not notice the Amaravati Express which hit them, according to the railway police. The police booked a case and handed over the two bodies to relatives after autopsy at the Gandhi hospital mortuary.
