Hyderabad: A 49-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the balcony of a multi-stored building at Masab Tank in Humayun Nagar here on Saturday morning. She is suspected to have been depressed, police said.

According to the Humayun Nagar police, the woman Sandhya Agarwal had separated from her husband Sajan Agarwal in 2005 and was staying with her two sons in Garden Towers at Masab Tank for the past three years.

According to her son Aman Agarwal, a private employee, it was around 7.40 am, while he was still in bed that he heard a loud thud from his balcony on the fifth floor.

“He immediately ran to his mother’s bedroom and she was missing. When he looked from the balcony, he saw his mother on the ground,” police said, adding that when he reached her, she was already dead.

Agarwal said his mother was depressed since their father left. Apart from that, they also had financial issues as their jewellery and property were mortgaged. He suspected it to be the reason for her suicide.

Based on Aman’s complaint, a case was booked and a probe is on. The body was shifted to the Osmania General Hospital morgue.
