Khammam: The family members of a woman who died at the Government District Hospital staged a protest at the hospital on Monday alleging that negligence of doctors led to her death.

Sources said that a 28 year old woman of Komatlagudem village in Chintakani mandal in the district was admitted to hospital for delivery on June 26. She was discharged on June 28 from the hospital after the delivery.

She was admitted to the hospital again on July 3 as she had cough and cold. She was treated in the hospital’s maternity wing. Her blood samples sent for covid-19 test tested positive on Sunday night and she died on Monday.

The woman’s family members alleged that she died due to doctor’s negligence and wanted action against them. The hospital officials explained to the protesters that the woman died of covid-19 and there was no negligence on the part of the doctors, after which the protest was withdrawn.

The new born baby was safe and would be tested for coronavirus to check if the child was infected. The primary contacts of the woman would be shifted to the quarantine centre, the officials said.
