Visakhapatnam: The Greater Visakhapatnam city committee of All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) and other women’s organisations in the city on Tuesday demanded a comprehensive investigation into the death of Jyotsna, an engineering student in the city.

The women’s organisations conducted a dharna near the mortuary of the King George Hospital where the body of the girl was kept for post mortem. They observed that the circumstantial evidence showed that it was murder. For, Jyotsna had gone to college in the morning and by evening the police said she had committed suicide. She was said to have hanged herself from the ceiling fan at the residence of her friend but the body was found on the floor and the doors on the rear of the flat were open, they pointed out, and demanded an impartial inquiry and deterrant action to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
