Karimnagar: Stage is all set for laying foundation for construction of the much-awaited IT tower in Karimnagar. Information Technology and Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao will lay the foundation for the tower near Ujwala Park here on Monday at 11 am.

After laying foundation, memoranda of understanding will be signed with two IT companies – one from Australia and another based in Hyderabad, in the presence of the Minister.

On the occasion, he will also launch a pylon of the Rs 250-crore Karimnagar City Renovation Project in front of One Town police station. Later, he will inaugurate Citizen Service Centre at Karimnagar Municipal Corporation office and lay foundation for improvement and beautification of all junctions at Telangana Chowk.

With a view to provide employment to educated youths, the State government has decided to set up the IT tower in the district at a cost of Rs 25 crore.

In July last year, the district administration commenced search for suitable land and identified five acres near Ujwala Park on the picturesque shores of Lower Manair Dam abutting the proposed Manair River Front Project. Out of five, four acres were declared suitable for the IT tower.

Besides being closer to the town and various educational institutions like polytechnic college, the location is filled with the city’s major attractions like LMD reservoir, Ujwala Park and Deer Park. Further, the proposed Manair River Front Project is also coming up near to the place.

In the first phase, about 1,000 educated youths and engineering students would get employment once the IT firms commence operations at the IT tower whose construction is expected to be completed within nine months. On the other hand, district officials and public representatives are going to visit the US and Australia in February to invite Karimnagar NRIs, who have established IT companies in foreign countries, to set up their firms in tower.
