Hyderabad: A national workshop ‘FCS2019’ on Fluorescence and Raman Spectroscopy, which attracted scientists and PhD students from across the country, was organised at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Hyderabad.

The FCS2019 conference comprised four-day hands-on workshop and a two-day conference focusing on in-depth theoretical training and intensive hands-on exploration of emerging techniques in Fluorescence and Raman spectroscopy to the scientists and PhD students.

Selected candidates received training on building of single molecule FRET and super-resolution imaging techniques from the experts. The workshops featured lectures that are aimed at providing an overview of the basic concepts. The FCS2019 also featured international faculty and researchers who explained the techniques of Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging (FLIM) and its applications. During the course of the workshop, some of the researchers also assembled a TIRF microscope from scratch.

The workshop included training sessions on TIRF/Storm microscopy, cuvette-FCS set-up, lifetime imaging, Raman spectroscopy, time-resolved fluorescence correlation spectroscopy, poster sessions and activities like building your own single molecule FCS set up.
