Young officers join Regiment of Artillery

Total of 53 young officers have been newly commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery at the Artillery Centre here in the city on Saturday.

Hyderabad: Major General N Srinivas Rao, General Officer Commanding, Telangana and Andhra Sub Area and Colonel Commandant of Regiment of Artillery, addressed the 53 young officers who have been newly commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery at the Artillery Centre here on Saturday.

The Regiment of Artillery is taking major strides in the modernisation and technological advancements through induction of state-of-the-art weapon systems such as M-777 Ultra-Light Howitzer (ULH), K-9 VAJRA T self-propelled guns, Swathi weapons, Locating Radar and 155 mm Dhanush gun systems.

Every year, 250 to 300 young officers get commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery from various officers training academies. These officers undergo orientation training for two weeks in the Artillery Centre where they are given an insight of training of the recruits.

They were also given an overview of the responsibilities and expectations of the Army from them in their units. On this occasion, Rao extolled all the young officers to excel in all their endeavours and make themselves worthy of being entrusted with the onerous responsibilities of leading their men to battles.
