Jeddah: In a tragic incident, a young Telugu woman, who died under abnormal circumstances 10 months ago, was finally buried in Saudi Arabia.

When she was alive she struggled for decent living and even after her death, her body had to wait for long to get a decent burial.

Hailing from extremely poor family, Firdous Shaikh, native of Kadapa town, lost her father at a young age and her mother was mentally unstable. She wanted to secure a decent life for her two younger siblings, so she came to Saudi.

She landed in the remote desert town Shaqra, nearly 200 km from Riyadh in 2016 and was working with a family, however, she felt homesick after five months and pleaded to return home, said sources.

Firdous was found hanging on February 13, 2017 by her employer, who immediately alerted the police. After investigation, police found it was a case of suicide and after that they tried to reach the deceased’s family.

Indian Embassy also attempted to reach the family but in vain. When they finally managed to reach the family, after trying for months, her siblings and old grandmother expressed their inability to receive the body, even from the airport of Kadapa.

Considering the situation, Firdous was finally laid to rest in Shaqra.
