Visakhapatnam: The Jai Andhra public meeting called by YSR Congress Party will begin at the Indira Priyadarshini Municipal Corporation Stadium in the old city here at 3 pm and the party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will address the people around 6 pm.

According to party spokesman Koyya Prasada Reddy, who was overseeing the arrangements in the presence of party bigwigs Vijay Sai Reddy and Botsa Satyanarayana, the meeting would be a stupendous success with several people from north Andhra districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam who had expressed a willingness to attend in huge numbers.

The burning issue of special category status which was denied to the State would be explained in detail to the people for them to support the issue.

However, there are reports that the Telugu Desam Party had issued strict instructions to its ward level leaders to ensure none of the party members attended the meeting. It had particularly advised the women’s self-help groups against attending Jagan’s meeting and it would hamper the chances of the party in the civic polls which are due shortly.

It would also dissuade people coming in lorry loads to the venue by strictly implementing the motor vehicle act, a political observer felt.

Though Vijay Sai Reddy had said that the party did not have money to fund elections or other programmes, it is believed that it would, after all, supply liquor and biryani packets which are normally done during such public meetings.
