Zoe Saldana is set to star in Netflix limited series “From Scratch” with Reese Witherspoon attached as producer. Saldana will also executive produce along with Witherspoon and her producing partner Lauren Neustadter. The series is an adaptation of Tembi Locke’s memoir “From Scratch”. It is described as an “autobiographical romance that follows an American woman as she falls in love with a Sicilian man while studying abroad in Italy then builds a life with him in the United States. When she unexpectedly loses him to illness, she is challenged to pull herself through grief so she can raise their daughter as they would have raised her together: with hope, joy and infinite love.” The memoir was published in April by and was selected as Witherspoon’s Book Club x Hello Sunshine May 2019 book pick.
Jason, Evangeline to star in thriller ‘Till Death’
Jason Sudeikis and Evangeline Lilly have boarded the cast of action thriller, “Till Death”. According to sources, the film will be helmed by Aharon Keshales, who co-directed 2013 breakout Israeli horror “Big Bad Wolves”. The story follows convicted felon Jimmy who gets early parole after serving 12 years for armed robbery. After his release, he vows to give terminally ill Annie, his childhood love, the best last year of her life but things aren’t that simple. Navot Papushado and Kai Mark will share writing credits with Keshales. The project goes into production in January.
‘BH90210’ will not get a second season
Fox has announced that “BH90210”, a reboot of the popular teen drama “Beverly Hills, 90210” will not return for a second season. The six-episode series saw original series cast members Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green, Tori Spelling and Shannen Doherty all back together again playing heightened versions of themselves, rather than their original characters. “We are so proud to have reunited in a very special summer event one of the network’s legacy series and casts with 90210 fans across the country,” Fox said in a statement. The show was produced by CBS Television Studios and Fox Entertainment. The original “Beverly Hills, 90210” premiered on Fox in 1990.
Kristen Bell returning as narrator for ‘Gossip Girl’ reboot
Actor Kristen Bell is set to return as the narrator for the HBO Max’s “Gossip Girl” reboot. Bell served as the narrator throughout the run of the original series. The project was announced in July with a straight-to-series order. According to sources, the new show is set eight years after the original and will follow a new generation of New York school teens who get to know about the social surveillance of the Gossip Girl site. The new show also hails from original series creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios will produce.
‘Superstore’ gets extended season five order
“Superstore” has snagged additional four episodes for its ongoing fifth season. According to sources, the development brings the count of episodes for the NBC workplace sitcom in this installment to a total of 22. The previous two seasons of the Universal TV-produced show also had 22 episodes each. The extension for “Superstore” comes as NBC’s new comedies have struggled somewhat this season, case in point being first-timers Kal Penn-starrer “Sunnyside” and “Perfect Harmony”. Created by Justin Spitzer, the comedy is set in a fictitious big-box utility store ‘Cloud 9’. The cast includes America Ferrara, Ben Feldman, Mark McKinney, Lauren Ash, Colton Dunn, Nico Santos and Nicole Bloom.
Kate Beckinsale and Len Wiseman headed for divorce
After seperating in 2015, British actor Kate Beckinsale and American director Len Wiseman have finally headed for divorce. The 46-year-old actor and ex Len Wiseman have finalised their divorce. Beckinsale married the ‘Underworld’ director in 2004 and a source confirmed their separation to a source in late 2015. The ‘Live Free or Die Hard’ director filed for divorce in October 2016 because of the conflicts and differences. And at that time, both of them renounced the right to support each other. A source closed to the duo confirmed that in November 2015 the two had been separated for several months. The source also confirmed that they were still friendly and spent time together in Los Angeles whenever Kate goes there, and there wasn’t any ‘drama’ in between them. “They have both had complicated schedules and have grown apart.” The ex-couple met each other in 2003 while working on the first ‘Underworld’ film together, which Wiseman directed. The two tied the knot in 2004.
