Telangana’s decision to allow registration of eligible 22-A properties may revive transactions, but owners remain uncertain as the properties continue on the prohibited list. The unresolved status could affect bargaining power, property values and decisions to sell.
The NHRC directed Telangana Chief Secretary K Sanjay Jaju to conduct an independent inquiry into private properties included in the 22-A prohibited list. It sought a comprehensive report within four weeks and immediate relief for affected property owners.
Telangana is working on a fee-based mechanism to clear properties from the 22-A prohibited list. The proposed charges could be around 15 per cent of government market value, with legal and administrative modalities still being examined before implementation
