The Telangana High Court on Friday refused to grant interim relief in a case concerning the manufacture and sale of adulterated spices. Justice J. Sreenivas Rao directed the police to continue the investigation, rejecting arguments that law enforcement lacked authority to register food adulteration cases.
Hyderabad police’s H-FAST unit, in coordination with GHMC Food Safety, seized 25 tonnes of adulterated spices and arrested three men during raids across the city. Hazardous chemicals and industrial dyes were found in spice units, prompting three criminal cases and a public advisory to buy only from licensed vendors.
