A 20-year-old B.Ed student in Odisha died after self-immolating over alleged sexual harassment by her professor. She succumbed to burn injuries at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. Police have arrested the accused HoD and the college principal for negligence and abetment.
Odisha CM Mohan Majhi said a college student who set herself on fire over alleged sexual harassment is in critical condition. The accused teacher has been arrested, and a high-level probe is underway. Strong preventive actions are being promised statewide.
Another male student, who attempted to save her, also suffered injuries and both were rushed to the district headquarters hospital here. Later, she was referred to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for advanced treatment
