Atrial fibrillation or irregular heartbeats detected post-stroke is not quite the same as the irregular heartbeats already known before a stroke, according to a study.
"Currently, fish oil supplements are indicated for patients with elevated plasma triglycerides to reduce cardiovascular risk," said study author Dr Salvatore Carbone of Virginia Commonwealth University, US.
Studies have shown that heavy drinking over a short period of time can trigger 'holiday heart syndrome' in some people, and in some atrial fibrillation patients, small amounts of alcohol can trigger arrhythmia episodes.
