The Centre has approved Rs 2,432 crore for implementing the Amended BharatNet Programme in Andhra Pradesh. The project aims to provide fibre broadband to every village, strengthen last-mile connectivity and enhance digital services across rural and remote areas
India’s digital infrastructure has expanded dramatically, with over 6.34 lakh villages now having mobile connectivity and 6,30,676 villages covered by 4G. Broadband subscriptions have doubled, PM-WANI hotspots increased, and data tariffs reduced, boosting nationwide digital access
Prasad said the government also intends to lay BharatNet in villages all over India and the prime minister wants this to be accomplished in the coming 1000 days.
