Titan was the top loser in the Sensex pack, shedding around 3 per cent, followed by SBI, ONGC, Reliance Industries, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, HDFC and Bajaj Finance.

The dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, rose 0.10 per cent to 91.

On the domestic equity market front, the 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex was trading 276.5 points higher at 48,663.01.

The dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, fell 0.04 per cent to 91.12.

On the Sensex, barring three IT stocks -- HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra and TCS -- all shares were trading in the green.
