A Nature study shows that Covid-19 and influenza can awaken dormant breast cancer cells in the lungs, triggering rapid metastasis. Researchers linked this to immune response-driven inflammation and advised cancer survivors to take precautions against respiratory infections.
Researchers led by Israel's Weizmann Institute of Science (WIS) said cancer cells typically evade detection by displaying very few suspicious proteins that the immune system can identify and target, Xinhua news agency reported
A new study published online Oct. 30 in Immunity, a Cell Press publication, reveals a cancer therapy technique that researchers describe as more accurate, long-lasting, and less harmful than current treatments.
"Our study shows the enormous potential of combining chemotherapy with the heat treatment delivered via magnetic nanoparticles," said senior author Nguyen TK Thanh, Professor at University College London
