Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens to conserve rainwater and strengthen the 'Catch the Rain' campaign, highlighting successful water conservation initiatives across several states and stressing that every drop of water saved today is an invaluable resource for future generations

The prime minister urged that every penny of MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) funds be spent on rain water conservation till the monsoon arrives.

The campaign will be undertaken across the country, in both rural and urban areas, with the theme "catch the rain, where it falls, when it falls".

It will be launched as a 'Jan Andolan' (public movement) to take water conservation at the grassroot level through people's participation.

The Prime Minister said water is a collective gift of nature to humankind, and it is the collective responsibility of everyone to conserve the essential natural resource.
